Henry Jimenez and The Homeboys have introduced an electrifying style to the tropical music scene. With the great success of their latest album “Got Mambo?” the group has created a style known as “El Sonido de NY”.
The Homeboys have managed to acquire the acceptance of the public and are now en-route to becoming one of the most solid and respected institutions of Merengue. They have been baptized as the “University of Merengue” and after an intense tour through the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico with Milly Quezada, the Queen of Merengue, they popularity has exploded. Henry Jimenez and The Homeboys have participated in various benefit activities such as NBC’s Hurricane Telethon in October 1998 and the Relief Concert at Hostos Community College based in NYC. They are well known for making appearances on various Latin variety shows like “Sabado al Medio Dia” and “Sabado 47” and many other local and International shows. They have toured through out the U.S. and internationally such as Japan, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, etc. The Homeboys have performed in prestigious theaters such as Teatro Nacional in the Dominican Republic and Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico. With the eloquence of their merengue sounds and American style, The Homeboys are a bridge between American and Latin Cultures, therefore giving us the best of both worlds. |
