Rosario was born in Higuey, a province in the Dominican Republic. Since his childhood, he and his brothers showed interest in music, even playing self-created instruments like bottle caps, plastic containers, and other items. Soon, they started singing and playing in the neighborhood and started what would become Los Hermanos Rosario, with whom he enjoyed great success later.
In the late 80s, after 12 years with his brothers, Toño decided to abandon the group, starting his own solo career. He debuted April 14, 1990 in the Roberto Clemente Coliseum of Puerto Rico. He went on to become one of the most popular merengue singers with some of his albums reaching platinum status. Toño's song Alegria was played at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan whenever former Detroit Tigers utility infielder Omar Infante came to bat. |
