Puerto Rican tropical group Caña Brava was formed in the early '90s, and soon after had the opportunity to perform live at New York's Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. They were nominated for Premio Lo Nuestro and ACE-awards. Caña Brava made its new lineup debut while recording 2000's Y Por Qué No, produced by the group's mentor, Alberto "Ringo" Martínez.
